Zip a folder in Terminal

Make sure you stand in your parent directory.

TAR.GZ:

tar -zcvf archive-name.tar.gz directory-name

ZIP (not always the server has zip library. Use Tar.gz):

zip -r filenameforthezipedfile thefolderwhoisgoingtobezipped
